Information Flow

Securely access and use any information on computers anywhere in the enterprise.

Manage the flow of information across your applications, network, servers, etc, in a secure fashion. Streamline the delivery of tasks and allow the information to be accessed or extracted, by schedule or on demand, with sequenced multi-step scripts.

File management

The file management utility for the NetXed® suite provides the capability to transfer files via FTP or secured HTTPS, Zip & Encrypt, and perform file management functions.

  • Connection parameters can be defined in an encrypted connections file for secure distribution to the field or defined directly in the task definition INI file.
  • Tasks are defined in INI files that can be shared with the other NetXed programs and encrypted for security.
  • Tasks may be sequenced to define multi-step processes.
  • Supports the NetXed Zypt command to zip/unzip files with or without encryption.
  • An optional log file provides auditing and debugging of tasks.
  • Copy, delete, rename, move and synchronize directories with date calculations and flexible filters through scripted tasks.

Because connection information and scripts can be encrypted, the jobs can be distributed to the field without compromising security. This enables remote computers to include complex scripted operations as part of software updates or business processes.

Database utility

A database utility provides the capability to make remote computers execute database tasks, SQL commands and transfer data between any two data sources. Connection strings can be stored in an encrypted file for security. Data sources include anything supported by the Microsoft MDAC, any DSN, XML and fixed format or delimited text files. Features include:

  • Data sources include anything accessible through Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) services, anything for which a driver or DSN has been installed, or any fixed format, field delimited or XMLfile. For MDAC supported databases no DSN needs to be defined, the connections are created dynamically.
  • Perform database functions on remote computers
  • Securely move data between any data sources. NetXed® can move information directly from a database to a double-encrypted zip file without the data ever being in the clear, not even in a temporary work file.
  • Read or write XML files to or from databases or other file formats, without complex XML schema definitions.
  • Connection parameters can be defined in an encrypted connections file for secure distribution to the field or defined directly in the task definition INI file.
  • Database tasks are defined in one or more INI files that can be shared with the other NetXed programs and optionally encrypted.
  • Tasks may be sequenced to define sophisticated multi-step processes.
  • Zip/unzip files with or without encryption.
  • Optional log file provides auditing and debugging of tasks.

Because connection information is normally defined in an encrypted connections file, jobs can be distributed to the field without compromising security. This enables remote computers to include database operations as part of software updates or business processes.

Encryption

Output formats include the ability to create standard zip files that can be processed by 3rd party programs such as PKZip or WinZip. In addition, NetXed® supports encrypting the file data using the new AES encryption standards for zip files.

One concern with standard zip file format is that even if the files are encrypted, a standard Zip-enabled program can read the file list, delete or replace files, add new files, etc. to the zip file. NetXed® supports a secondary level of strong encryption to “double encrypt” the zip file so it cannot be altered.
