Computer Management
Securely manage
and automate your IT resources.
NetXed assists IT staff in monitoring,
maintaining, updating and automating your computers.
Using the NetXed suite of products, you can:
- Track and manage installation and maintenance of
hardware and software aspects of your business.
- Define and schedule tasks on any computer in the
network.
- Allow remote connectivity with integerated domain
security.
- Find and convert data even if you do not know exactly
where it is.
These features grouped with the other funtions of NetXed
enable your staff to effectively and efficiently allow
your business to automate anything, anywhere.

Management and automation
of the network
A central management console lets you see, manage
or connect to computers in your network easily.
- Reports of both the master database and audit data
can be created easily and exported to other formats
such as Excel or PDF.
-
Central network management console
to provide and maintain multiple views of the network.
-
Conncurrent connections to multiple
remote computers.
-
Reports on all computers in the
network including information in an audit file.
-
Task definitions, scripts and connection
files are encrypted so they can be distributed securely.
-
Create and maintaining multiple
views of the network.
- Macros to perform multi-step jobs on multiple computers.
With NetXed an operator can connect to multiple remote
computers, create and run tasks, develop new task
definitions and other aspects of computer administration.
Scheduling and remote
connectivity
NetXed includes a console function that can be used
by support personnel in the field. The console is
available the the central management console, but
a command mode version is available from any computer
running NetXed.
A scheduling and remote control program includes
comprehensive, secure task definition and scheduling.
In addition, a console capability enables connection
to a computer from the remote console program. There
is also a command line console interface available
from any computer to connect to any other computer.
NetXed provides the following features.
-
All definition scripts encrypted
-
Periodic, event driven or on-demand
task scheduling
-
Task sequencing, even between
Windows programs
-
Extensive remote console operations
-
Copy files directly from any computer
-
Integrated Microsoft Domain and
internal security authentication
Consolidating and
managing computer audit information
NetXed includes audit/conversion capability to facilitate
remote management of computers. With simple definition
scripts, extensive information about a computer's hardware
and software environment can be extracted. Audit information
includes:
- Standard set of hardware and software audit functions
- Query any Registry key, optionally all subkeys,
with selective search criteria
- Find files or search directory trees and optionally
return version information
- Selectively extract content from any text or INI
file
- Extract properties of Windows shortcuts in directory
trees
- Provides information about hardware, software, system
configuration, users, even running processes.
A powerful conversion feature is combined with auditing
capability is included. Most information that NetXed
can find in files, shortcut properties or the Registry,
it can convert. For example, if a new server is put
into a network with some network resources moved to
it, NetXed can find and replace the server name in drive
mappings, shortcuts, network printer paths, etc. Since
NetXed can search entire directory or Registry trees,
you do not need to know ahead of time everywhere the
server name is on the system.
NetXed allows you to gather or convert system and configuration
information about computers running Windows 9X/ME, NT4.0,
Windows 2000, XP or Server 2003 and write the information
to an audit file. The central management console quickly
converts audit files into database tables for analysis
and reporting. Features include:
- Combine information into a master database and multiple
audit dBs.
- Requires no setup or supporting programs
- Can be run from a central server
- Configurable audit options and output file
- No end user interface (silent)
- Powerful conversion capabilities
Software updates fully
automated and on demand
NetXed is designed to efficiently update and manage
software on workstations attached to a LAN (Local Area
Network) or WAN (Wide Area Network). Updates can be
centrally created and administered, then automatically
applied to any number of computers in the network, including
'lock down' machines. Features include:
- Supports 32-bit for Windows 9X/ME/NT/W2K/XP/Server
2003
- Updates different types of computers differently
with a single update
- Future date updates
- Redo the last update
- View and/or rerun multiple historical updates
- Runs from server or workstation
- Modify files, Registry settings, or Windows shortcuts
- Launch external programs in timed sequence
- Programmatic control in updates
- User interface messages and/or input
- Embedded Zip and Encryption
- Integrated with Microsoft Domain Security to execute
under administrative credentials
Security
NetXed implements security on several levels.
Tasks and Computer security
All tasks definitions and associated credentials are
stored encrypted on the computers and must be distributed
in encrypted files. You can use embedded encryption
keys or define private passphrases for your own implementation
of NetXed.
NetXed includes tight integration with Microsoft domain
security so that Admin domain credentials can be defined
and securely stored. NetXed can then execute functions
under a domain credential with sufficient authority
to perform the tasks.
Authenticate console connections
NetXed includes internal credentials for support personnel
to access remote computers. All credentials are store
encrypted on the computers. Personnel with a NetXed
console credential can initiate connections from any
computer to any computer configured to authenticate
that credential.
Zypt (Zip & Encrypt)
NetXed includes standard Zip compression, with or
without encryption, PLUS a separate layer of encryption
(called NetXed encryption). With standard Zip files,
even if the files are encrypted anyone with a compatible
program (WinZip, PKZip, etc.) can see what files are
in the Zip and even add or replace files. With NetXed's
double-encryption the zip file is secure. Several of
the NetXed programs support the zipping and encryption
capability.
For example, the database utility can extract information
from a data source directly to a doubly-encrypted
zip file. The data is never in the clear, not even in
a temporary work file.
Scripts and Connection Information
One of the long outstanding issues with distributed
computing has been security for the information needed
to support the distributed functions. NetXed solves
this by encrypting virtually all sensitive information.
This includes connection files for database and FTP
functions, task definition, scripts for software updates,
database tasks or file management.
